Newborn Must-Haves
When I first set up my baby registry in 2018, I had no idea what items to include. In an attempt to ensure I had the necessary items, I scoured my sister-in-law’s registry hoping to gather ideas. When my little man arrived, I had what I needed, plus a bunch of stuff that I probably should have returned. So, here is a list of my newborn must-haves!
Halo Sleepsack
Not just for sleep! This was the only way to get our little guy to calm down when we got him home. I swear by this swaddle. Go ahead and grab the newborn and the next size up. When our little man hit six-months, we switched to the version without wings.
Philips Avent Soothie
This was, and still is, the only pacifier our son will take. It also has great safety features. Make sure to stock up on these guys. They have a tendency to get lost. And you will want one at arms reach as cries ramp up.
Portable Whitenoise Machine
You don’t know what you know don’t. And I didn’t know I needed a white noise machine. The white noise machine has been one of the best gifts we received. And it’s extremely affordable! It drowns out background noise and helps our son drift off to dreamland. Honestly, I prefer to sleep with white noise now, even though he is no longer in our room.
Gerber Cloths
This was another item I didn’t know I needed. These Gerber cloths are actually meant to be used as diapers. However, they also make the BEST burp cloths. They are super absorbent, are easy to clean, and fit nicely in drawers and diaper bags.
Quilted Changing Pad Liners
I received a pack of these changing pad liners at one of my showers. Little did I know how much I would end up utilizing these little lifesavers. With a newborn, you have to tackle a lot of dirty diapers. Throw one of these guys down on top of your changing pad and keep the actual changing pad clean. With a newborn, it’s much easy to toss a pad in the laundry than strip the actual changing pad.
Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles
Whether you nurse or bottlefeed, go ahead and stock up on a handful of bottles. You never know when you might need them. We tried a number of different bottles and Tommee Tippee was our favorite. They are super easy to clean and still provide anti-colic benefits.
Uppababy Bundle
Yes, this is a pricey one. It’s worth it. The Uppababy bundle includes a top-rated infant car seat, newborn bassinet, and toddler stroller. We used the bassinet attached as a bed for our little man until he moved into his crib. The stroller also expands as your family grows!
